Position Purpose
Responsible for identifying, developing, designing, estimating, and securing plumbing project opportunities while ensuring projects are executed efficiently and completed within established cost and profitability objectives. This role serves as a trusted advisor to customers, develops new business relationships, and works collaboratively with internal teams to deliver high-quality, cost-effective plumbing solutions.
Position Responsibilities
- Respond to customer inquiries to assess plumbing and piping needs. Discuss customer requirements and provide an overview of the proposed approach to address those needs. Responses may be coordinated with sales personnel or performed independently by the Project Sales Engineer.
- Plan and efficiently schedule appointments and manage time to maximize productivity. Continually utilize and maintain the CRM system.
- Design plumbing systems for a variety of building types and processes, including offices, laboratories, manufacturing facilities, food production facilities, warehouses, and other commercial or industrial applications. Designs shall meet customer requirements, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. Coordinate schematic designs and CAD/Revit drawings as necessary.
- Prepare and assemble construction drawings and arrange plan reviews as appropriate.
- With the assistance of estimating staff, prepare construction cost estimates for designed systems, including obtaining vendor quotations and utilizing the company's estimating software to establish labor and material costs. Establish pricing to meet or exceed budgeted profit expectations.
- Prepare and present proposals outlining project scope, assumptions, and estimated costs. Follow up with customers and obtain project commitments.
- Work closely with Project Management, VDC, and field leadership teams to develop and execute the most cost-effective installation strategies through BIM coordination, prefabrication opportunities, labor optimization, and constructability reviews.
- Promote the use of emerging technologies, digital design tools, and prefabrication methodologies to improve productivity, quality, efficiency, and overall project profitability.
- Stay current on plumbing and mechanical systems, applicable codes, and industry standards.
- Support the HVAC/P business segment's engineering needs as required.
- Support and maintain a safe and Lean working environment.

Summary of Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Professional Engineer (PE) registration, or Master Plumber License in the State of Wisconsin.
- Minimum of five years of experience in the plumbing industry.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook, as well as Revit, AutoCAD, and other industry-related software.
- Demonstrated ability and/or experience managing design projects.
- Strong understanding of plumbing systems and industry practices.
- Strong blueprint reading and interpretation skills.
- Effective sales and customer relationship management skills.
- Strong communication, organizational, and project coordination abilities.
- Physical ability to access job sites, including climbing, crawling, and other movements required to inspect systems and evaluate job conditions.
