Position Purpose

The Learning Specialist is responsible for assisting with the design, implementation, and evaluation of learning and development programs that enhance employee skills, performance, and productivity. This role focuses on aligning training initiatives with business goals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and ensuring employees have the tools and knowledge they need to succeed in their roles. In addition, this role involves creating and maintaining comprehensive training documentation, ensuring all materials are up-to-date and accessible. The specialist will work closely with the Continuous Improvement and Training Manager to assess needs, develop, deliver, or source content, and measure the effectiveness of training programs. 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough needs assessments to identify skill gaps and training requirements across the organization.
  • Recommend targeted training solutions to address identified needs.
  • In partnership with the Continuous Improvement and Training Manager design, develop, and deliver engaging, interactive, and effective training programs for various levels within the organization.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to create content that is relevant, accurate, and aligned with company objectives.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional methods, including e-learning, workshops, in-person facilitation, and on-the-job training.
  • Collaborate with the Learning Systems Administrator to coordinate the logistics of training programs, including scheduling, materials preparation, and communication with participants.
  • Create targeted or companywide communications related to training initiatives.
  • Create, maintain, and update training documentation, including manuals, guides, job aids, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Develop and implement methods to assess the effectiveness of learning programs, including surveys, assessments, and performance metrics.
  • Analyze data and provide regular reports to management on training outcomes and ROI.
  • Undertake other duties and projects as directed by the leadership team.

Other Bassett Transformation Office (BTO) Duties

  • Serve as a BTO team resource to support the overall BTO initiatives of the organization. 
  • Maintain functional knowledge of BTO department duties and work collaboratively to sustain a strong and healthy company culture. 
  • Support and maintain a safe and Lean/continuous improvement working environment.

Summary of Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • High School Diploma required. Additional schooling or Associate’s Degree preferred.
  • One (1) to two (2) years of experience in Learning and Development.
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles, continue curriculum development including the design, revisions, and implementation of instructional materials for a variety of technical and ownership skills.
  • Ability to facilitate learning through a combination of online, classroom, hands on, virtual and on-the-job training.
  • Strong presentation, group facilitation, and public speaking skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, confidence in influencing, consulting, and partnering with various audiences.
  • Demonstrate a high level of computer literacy with proficiency in MS Office, Office 365, SharePoint, and related tools.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle numerous details, deadlines, and requests.
